Day 7 - Thursday

The forecast wasn’t great for today. It was cloudy when we left but we were due to have rain later on. We went for breakfast again at the Hole in the Wall café just around the corned. I just had a coffee and almond croissant. Kathryn had the waffles again.

We walked around to the subway station and then got the subway to Rockafella Center. It’s always interesting to walk around the plaza and mall there. I took a couple of photos. Kathryn bought some stuff in a really good stationary shop they had there. We walked over the 5th Avenue which is an area with lots of shops. We did a bit of browsing, I bought a few more tshits from the Vans store.

We then walked to Culture coffee again. They had a nice KeepCup design that I thought Kathryn could get me for Christmas. We walked via the New York Library, to stop off for a quick pee break. That had a really nice interior too that we got to look at whilst we walked through to find the toilets in the basement!

We had another really nice coffee and goo-ey chocolate chip cookie. We then headed back to the apartment for a quiet afternoon.

We had left over pizza for dinner, which we cooked some pasta to go with it. I had booked tickets to go back to the ice hockey. Again, we managed to get them for about $10 each. This time they were playing Pittsburg who are a much better team than Ottawa.

It was raining by the time we left. Although we left at about 6pm, we got to our seats at about 6:30pm. Not sure why or how we got there a lot quicker than last time. Kathryn had worn a few more layers, but it was still quite cold.

The Islanders played very well and got into a 3-0 lead of two of the three periods. However, they got a bit unlucky and conceded 3 goals in the third period. There was a surprising amount of Pittsburg supporters at the stadium. It made for a really good atmosphere. So it ended 3-3 and we got to see some overtime. After 3 of the 5 minutes, Pittsburg scored the winning goal. Therefore we got the see the end of the 10 game winning streak!
